Aggravated assaults over the last 12 months are down 1% compared to the annual average over the last three years, according to the latest data available from the Raleigh Police Department.

The city averaged 23 aggravated assaults a week over the last 12 months. In 2019, that number was 18 a week.

The totals include only aggravated assaults, which police generally define as someone being attacked or seriously injured by another person, whether or not they used a firearm or other weapon.

A closer look at Raleigh aggravated assaults neighborhood by neighborhood

The danger is not the same neighborhood to neighborhood. ABC11’s data team looked at the Raleigh Police Department’s data by neighborhood from 2019 through April 17, 2025.

The map color-codes each neighborhood by the aggravated assault rate over the last 12 months. The three darker blues represent neighborhoods with aggravated assault rates that are higher than the citywide rate.
