How many people have already voted?

Millions of Californians have cast ballots in the Nov. 5, 2024 General Election, and registrar’s offices will still be processing all the ballots that are coming in for days. Click on or hover over each county to see the percent of registered voters who have voted in the election.

Understanding the data

The percent of people who have voted is calculated by adding together the number of people whose votes have been accepted — including people who have voted by mail and in person — and dividing that by the number of registered voters in each county. Accepted votes are votes that have been approved by county election offices and will be counted on or after election night. Some ballots returned to election offices have yet to be accepted, because they are still going through the verification process.

Ballot returns data is published daily by the California Secretary of State’s office. Voter registration data comes from the 15-day out registration report published by the state office and is current as of Oct. 21, 2024.
